On the day of Devshayani Ekadashi, devotees observing fast should wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath. Then after cleaning the place of worship in the house, purify it with the water of the Ganges. ... After this, make an easy and install the idol or statue of Lord Vishnu. Then worship God in Shodashopachar. After this, offer yellow clothes, yellow flowers, yellow sandalwood to God. Then adorn the conch, chakra, mace and lotus in the hands of God. After this, offer paan-betel nut to God, then offer incense, lamp and flowers. Now perform the Aarti of God with a true heart and chant the mantra.
Devshayani Ekadashi story
According to the legend, long time ago there was a king named Mandhata. The king was very good and kind hearted due to which his subjects were always very happy and happy with him. Once, there was no rain in the kingdom for 3 years. Due to this a situation of famine arose in the state. The people who used to be happy earlier have now started living disappointed and sad. Seeing this condition of his people, the king thought it appropriate to go to the forest to find a solution to get his people out of this misery. The effect of fasting and worship was such that once again it rained in the state, due to which the whole state once again became full of wealth and grains.
